With 99.9% disinfection efficacy against coronavirus, Aura Air’s air purification system is taking over the market

Exclusive Interview | Oren Eliyasov (Business development director at Aura Air)

The need for clean air is at an all-time high. COVID-19 has created an unwilling – albeit needed –  attention to what we breathe into our system on a day-to-day basis.

The Aura Air air purification system was launched in August 2020, and about 30,000 units are currently sold in over 45 countries. By placing it in enclosed spaces, the system filters and disinfects the air while monitoring the quality of the air in real-time using AI. The all-in-one technology has proven to have a 99.9% disinfection efficacy against coronavirus – and as a result, has already sold 20,000 units in over 45 countries around the world.

We were able to speak with business development director Oren Eliyasov about the technology and their impressive client portfolio, including the Spanish royalty and Japanese karaoke organizations.

The technology behind Aura Air

Aura Air was established in 2016 by two brothers. Inspired by their father, who had worked in the air conditioning business for 30 years, they came up with an idea to create a modern system for air purification.

As the brothers assisted their father during summer vacations and holidays, they learned that treating air in indoor spaces was ineffective and not totally holistic. When one of the brothers was discharged from the army after 13 years of service, the two brothers sat down and decided it was time to accomplish the dream. Awareness of healthy food, good sleep, and exercise has sharpened in their eyes the need to increase awareness for the air we breathe as well.

“We have developed an air quality management system that starts with monitoring the air quality inside and outside the room, to understand what the problem is inside the room in terms of all the parameters and pollutants. It then purifies and disinfects the air 24/7 according to the monitoring results and shows at any given time the relevant and up-to-date data.”

Aura Air's innovative technology is centered around an efficient AI-driven management system, which performs a unique four-stage purification process while constantly monitoring air quality.

The first part is the Pre-Filter. It is the first gate in the air filtration system and it filters large particles of dust, allergens, insects, animal hair, and other large substances.

The second part is the unique filter consisting of three layers of smart materials that filter to the level of viruses and bacteria.

The third part is effective in neutralizing bacteria, viruses, and parasites by destroying the proteins in the cell membrane of the pest.

The fourth part is based on bipolar ionization technology. It produces positive and negative ions that purify and refresh internal air by destroying harmful pollutants.

The result? A safe indoor environment that eliminates 99,97% of harmful bacteria and viruses, including COVID-19.

From Coca-Cola to Hilton –  and they are just getting started

Different air purifiers serve different functions. There are air quality detectors that provide information about the quality of the air,  air purifiers that keep the air cleaner, and smoke and carbon dioxide detectors, which are usually simple and not effective for purification.

Aura Air combines all these functions into one.

“People understand that we are a serious company with a team who knows what they are doing. We work with 45 countries, 10 of which are exclusive distributors.”

Aura Air also works with long-standing brands such as Coca-Cola, Hilton Hotels, and the Palace of Spain. In Japan, they are just getting started.

“In Japan, we work with Jtech, a company we reached through the mediation of the Israel-Japan Chamber of Commerce. We have just signed an agreement with the Japanese karaoke organization, which represents over 100,000 karaoke rooms in Japan. Currently, they are shut down because of the Covid-19. Currently, we entered Karaoke rooms all over Kyushu Island, in order to expand our business to the whole country.״

“People don’t feel comfortable together in a small and crowded room, and we want to offer a solution to that. We also work with hotels and real estate businesses.”

99.9% efficacy against coronavirus

In August 2019, Aura Air worked with Sheba and Tel Hashomer hospitals to keep the hospitals as safe as possible.

When the pandemic broke out, they specifically kept track of data in Sheba to test for efficacy against the coronavirus. They found that they could eliminate the virus by 99.9%.

“A year ago people had no idea why you would need an air purifier, but now the only question I get is which air purifier is best for my establishment.”

“Because of the pandemic, awareness about air quality has completely changed. Both as a solution to the corona specificallyand also as a long-term solution. People are more aware that we are daily breathing, viruses, bacteria, and more.”

Aura Air recently developed the Mini Aura Air, which is a smaller product for personal environments. They are also developing and refining the Aura Air towards 2021, and the ambition is to produce a product for ventilation inside larger buildings and structures, as well as the production of a holistic solution.
