Hilma’s “Albi” App: Helping the Elderly Hold On to Their Memories

Hilma is a non-profit company helping people with disabilities and instilling technological leadership skills among young people. It was established in 2018 by Israeli High-tech executives; they want to use technology to impact our society for the better, because they believe that technology has the capacity to improve quality of life immensely.

Albi – Capturing Memories:

This time, we’d like to introduce Albi, an app that helps the eldelry with dementia or Alzheimer's. Elderly people, especially those with some form of dementia – including Alzheimer’s, tend to lose the memories of their childhood, their life experiences, and even their families. This is a humiliating and painful process for the person struggling, as well as for their loved ones having to watch. Thankfully, experts have agreed that the right stimulant can slow this process down, which is where Hilma comes in with the creation of Albi.

A Live Time Capsule:

The app captures personalized photos, videos, and audio that can stimulate the elderly’s emotions and mind, allowing them to hold onto these precious memories. Albi helps them train their memory and strengthens it, while allowing a family bonding opportunity in the process. Families can add more photos and videos at any given time, and therefore maintain a life story in a way that can be repeatedly visited. The app even offers games that are personalized with the individual’s experiences that can actually help maintain their memories.

Albi is meant to maintain the elederly’s memories in a unique time capsule that can be repeatedly visited, allowing them to refresh these experiences in their own minds and share them with their families. It slows the aging of the memory, allowing each person the dignity of keeping their life story alive and to carry it to their families.

The application’s current languages are Hebrew and English, but it has the ability to add more languages for international use.

Hilma is looking for local partners interested in developing this technology in Japan, especially those working with old age homes, rehabilitation centers, dementia care services, and elderly welfare. Contact below for more information.
